STOP giving your job, and your future, to Google!

I know that I may be in the minority here, but truly, as a person who loves to do things myself, I am shocked at the number of people who are helping Google send them to the unemployment line quicker.

I read many articles extolling the virtues of Google's machine learning and letting it do the bidding for your ad campaigns. Well, maybe I am a Luddite. Maybe I'll be the only person riding around in one of those antiquated cars that comes with one of those do-hickey's, a steering wheel. All I know is that you can count me out on giving away control of my ad campaigns to Google.

Heck, Google already controls ENOUGH in my life, so I'm not really too excited about giving them control over yet ANOTHER aspect -- my job. If a machine could do it, then why should anyone hire me?

And not only that, I LOVE MY JOB! That's why I don't really see it as a job, but what I do.

Anyways, I am a bada$$ at crunching numbers, analyzing data, telling a story and problem solving. I love "getting my hands dirty", testing new strategies, seeing what happens and making the required adjustments. Yes, I know that that is what a computer does, but only faster. So? I don't care.

Look, if everyone is using Google to bid on the same keywords or ad space, OF COURSE your ad budget is going to go up!! I mean, duh!

One, the demand is now self-fulfilling because everyone is using the same program that is outbidding itself! Two, there is no human thought weighing opportunity cost or simply making a personal decision, which causes supply and demand to ebb and flow. Three, if we all trust Google with our campaign decisions, then how do we truly know that their bid was best? We have no data to support their claim and we've given up all control. Finally, Google is there to increase GOOGLE's profits, NOT YOURS! Their goals and your goals do not match, so again, OF COURSE they're going to be the primary beneficiary of automated bidding.

Yes, efficiency and automation are great, but at some point, the creativity of humanity, hard work, the joy of figuring it out on your own, trying new things and discovery can NOT be replaced by a computer.

Or, maybe I'm just weird. THAT too is highly possible. (lol)
