Bro, what does your site even mean!?

As a business in today's hyper competitive marketplace, if you don't have a website, your business does not exist ... and your sales, or lack thereof, will reflect that. Now, that does not mean that slapping any cheap, boring, fresh out of the box template and some boring, passionless, ambiguous copy full of the latest buzzwords is going to lead you the financial freedom that you dream of either.

What is Your Message?

What is the first impression, message or feeling that you want your customers to have when they land on your site? That is the very first thing that I go over with business owners. The last thing we want is for me to do lots of SEO work, get you the exact clients that you're looking for and them land on your page and be like "Umm, huh? What is this about? What do I do next?". I promise you this, potential customers will not ask themselves that question! Your audience will simply hit the back button and move on to your competitor. That will cause your bounce rate to shoot through the roof and your site to rank lower. We can easily remedy this with a well crafted, obvious message and call to action. We've worked hard to get clients to your site ... so let's keep them there and convert them!

Why You?

Yes, I know that no one likes that ego maniac who is ALWAYS talking about themselves, BUT you do need to do some bragging on your site! Get passionate about your company, your product/service and tell the audience why they should trust you above all others. That is not being arrogant, that is getting people excited to do business with you. Spend the time figuring out where the competition falls down, lay out where you excel and craft an impact statement to wow your site visitors and hit your objectives.

So, in summary, look at your site, or have a friend look at it, and ask yourself 3 simple questions:

  • Is it clear what I am offering?

  • Do visitors know what ACTION I want them to take next?

  • Why should they choose me?

If those questions are all obvious, great job ... and why the heck are you even reading this blog post ... but if those are NOT clear, then let's work together to get that resolved.

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more short, easy to read pieces on how SEO, analytics and better content can help you grow your small business!
